From our family to yours
I know firsthand that sometimes a clean home is about much more than a clean home.
I’m Kristy, owner of Handy Housewife Cleaning & Maintenance Services, wife to Seth, mum to five children, former counsellor, and someone who understands just how busy and messy life can get!
When life feels like a juggle, your home is usually the first place to show the strain. I know that when the cleaning gets pushed to the bottom of a never-ending to-do list, it’s not just the dust that builds up — it’s the mental load. That feeling of walking through the door and seeing everything that still needs to be done, rather than being able to actually relax in your own space.
I’ve been there. I know what it’s like to feel like you’re just trying to keep your head above water. And I know exactly how much of a difference it makes to have a home that feels light, clean and looked after.
Helping people has always been part of my story
Before Handy Housewife, I spent years working as a counsellor. I’ve always been someone who wants to help people, to listen and to find ways to make life feel a little easier for others.
People are often surprised that I went from counselling to cleaning, but to me, they’ve always felt connected. Both are about looking after people. When we clean a home, we’re not just wiping surfaces; we’re giving someone their time back, their space back and a little piece of their sanity back.
Small business is in my blood
I grew up in an entrepreneurial family, so I’ve always understood the hard work, the heart and the dedication it takes to run a small business properly. I’m not interested in being a big, faceless franchise.
I want Handy Housewife to be a business rooted in its community here on the Gold Coast. A business where I know my team and I know my clients. There’s a certain level of care and accountability that comes with being a local, family-run business, and that’s something I will never compromise on.
